FM-NJ was once again invited to have and staff some CLub tables during the Edison NYNJ Show. One wrinkle, well more of a monkey wrench, was that the Management of the show changed, and as result, there was miscommunication about what Clubs were invited. Will "Billy boy" Pazik and John unfortunately were the "sacrificial Lambs" as the first ones scheduled to be in on Wed. to set up the tables. After a little under an hour of inquisition and having to furnish an old "confirmation email", they were finally able to get in and set up shop.
During the Wed --> Friday period, a good amount of foot traffic visited the table and thanks to our volunteers, got great info and insight on the Club and also the Juniors program. We had plenty of our tri-fold brochures, 2 Posters, info flyers, Show advertising cards and other info on the Club, for folks to take. Some shopping was always manageable during the volunteer shifts; Julia even managed to find a Tiara to wear !
The weekend saw even more foot traffic, and Groundhog Dave brought a heaping helping of specimens to show off. All field trip - collected, no less. Will Pazik again brought some specimens and UV lights to show some fluorescents. We had a number of families with kids of different ages and quantity, show interest in the Juniors program as well as the Club.
As promised, at the May meeting, we had a drawing for 1 of these volunteers to get their next year of FM-NJ membership paid for; and Ray Sann was the lucky winner !! We also gave 1 Mineral Mayhem Raffle ticket to each volunteer, at the meeting.
We are steadily seeing new members now joining us, just since the Show.
A big THANK YOU again to ALL of the Edison Show Club table volunteers !!
