This return trip was one of 2 trips from our "Double Header" Herkimer weekend. Hayley and dad Jim volunteered to be Trip Leaders as Groundhog Dave was at the Mohawk Valley trip on Sat and unavailable on Sunday. It was definitely a frigid weekend, just below freezing, however everyone fortunately dressed for the weather.
Some excellent finds were made on both days. Hayley found a stellar "palmer" Herk with a good termination and much skeletal insides. Brandon Tracey found an outstanding slightly smaller similarly shaped Herk with partial Golden healer coloration and internal skeletals, and a good termination. Suzanne and Jarrath Shaw found some nice smaller shapely Herks with not much internal skeletals and some good points. Jarrath found one huge very impressive Herk doublet with at least 2 good terminations. Nate found a few small near - water clears and slighlty larger skeletal herks. Andy Silver found 1 "palmer" Herk doublet with at least 2 good terminations, maybe 3. Taylor Smith found a "palmer" oddly shaped Herk piece with one good termination. Ken and Ofe Napolitano found several medium sized herks of varying shapes.
This time out, more folks searched the ledge / druze area and several folks found nice small pieces of druze Quartz in matrix . Lori Stahl found a very impressive assortment of druze and mini-crystal specimens from this area.
