Submitted by Dave “Groundhog” Shapiro Attendees: Groundhog Dave, Dan and Linda Sackerman, Julia Chien, and from NoJMS, Linda Lovstad A small group of club members visited Ramanessin Brook on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 and had a blast digging for teeth and fossils. Recent heavy rains resulted in the water level being about 20 % higher than normal, and fortunately, the water clarity was excellent, and the sediment had settled back down. Weather was slightly cool and sky was cloudy with patches of blue; intermittent light winds. Numerous small to medium-sized shark teeth were found and generally teeth were by far the most prevalent finds for us. Finds of the day were: Bone piece with possible vertebrae impression, around 4?, multiple segments cemented together, Groundhog Dave Small 1/2 cm fish vertebrae, perfect condition, Linda Sackerman Fragment of crab or lobster claw in sandstone, Linda Lovstad Long > 3/4? goblin shark tooth, narrow and pointy, Julia Chien Very small (1 cm) ammonite fragment, Groundhog Dave Two members visited the downstream portion of Big Brook, now accessible as the persistent construction there has ceased.Submitted by Dave “Groundhog” Shapiro Attendees: Groundhog Dave, Dan and Linda Sackerman, Julia Chien, and from NoJMS, Linda Lovstad A small group of club members visited Ramanessin Brook on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 and had a blast digging for teeth and fossils.
