It was an outstanding outing to Ramanessin Brook this past Saturday for 14 Club members. Terrific weather made the trip worth it for the majority of attendees who drove well over an hour just to the meetup at Cheesequake. As always, Derek was an outstanding expert guide for our group, identifying just about anything that was picked up. Derek and Mike “Mr Maui” Machette both graciously brought along mounts of their best finds from Ramanessin and Big Brook, for all to see. Finds of the Day: – Mike Machette, 1 Mosasaur tooth, excellent condition – Mike Machette, 2 fossilized lobster claws – Groundhog Dave, 1 large Ammonite fragment with prominent sutures – Groundhog Dave, 1 fossilized bivalve clam, pristine condition – Tim “Hitchhiker” Hollister and Mark, 1 ridged oyster variety valve, great condition – Bob Hendricks, 1 (yet to be ID’d) possible Hadrosaur tooth – Bob Hendricks, 1 toe and claw, yet to be ID’d species – Derek Yoost, 1 cephalic clasper of male shark and various large teeth Lots of small and medium sized teeth were found throughout the day. We concluded that the several large storms we got over winter must have churned up and moved a lot of material at Ramanessin, since it was so productive.Attendees: 14 total including: Groundhog Dave, Derek Yoost, Mike “Mr Maui” Machette, Nicole Rios, Laura Schmeltz, Tim “Hitchhiker” Hollister w son Mark, Bob Hendricks, Linda Lovstad, Gary Quam, and NoJMS newbies Kris and Bill Fischer, and Pat Sheridan with wife Barbara.
