NoJMS Trip to the Bear Mountain Zoo, Geology Museum, and Collecting at Mine Dock Park in Fort Montgomery, NY

Spectacular weather and great scenery made for a fun trip! Attendees: “Hitchhiker ” Tim Hollister, wife Corinne and son Mark “Sleeping beauty” H., Pete Vereb and Irene Potter, Paul “Mr Reveille” Radziewicz, Jim “Lunchbox” Currie, “Mr Montague” Jeff Wilson, and the Groundhog; a great crew. A wide variety of animals and birds were seen in the Zoo. There were outstanding views of the Hudson River, Anthony’s Nose and Bear Mountain. We enjoyed a visit to Geology and History Museums in Bear Mountain Park followed by a trip to nearby mine Dock Park in Fort Montgomery, a waterfront location to collect rocks fallen from RR cars and barges. Several members went over to “Sterling Hell” haunted mine tours at SHMM afterwards.
