North Jersey Mineralogical Society (NoJMS) and Friends of Mineralogy NJ Chapter (FM-NJ) FIELD TRIP INFORMATION Date: Sat, June 24 Collecting Site(s): Big Brook / Ramanessin Brook / Ralph Johnson residence visit. A 3 – for – 1 Combo trip!! Collecting at 2 locations in Monmouth County and a visit to the Ralph Johnson residence to see a world-class fossil museum. For earliest collecting and 1st Museum group: Meet-Up Time: 8:00 am SHARP. For 2nd Museum group (NO prior collecting): Meet-Up Time: 10:30 am SHARP *** Trips start 10-15 minutes MAX. from meet-up times !!!! *** Meeting Place for ALL TRIPS: Cheesequake Rest Area on Garden State Pkwy, approx. mile 122. Park in lot past the building down nearest the gas pumps but still within the main lot. **Make yourself VISIBLE** Trip Notes: Museum visits are LIMITED to 2 groups of 10 ppl each. Johan and his PESA members will all be in Group 1 (to be led by Johan) and balance will be NoJMS and other club members. Each Museum trip (1st Group 9am – 11am) will have an escort with directions, with ME leading 2nd Group. For 1st Group ppl – after visit, you will be led to either collecting site of your choice or back to Cheesequake, directions will be provided. For 2nd Group, there will be NO PRIOR DIGGING / COLLECTING as Ralph has requested NEATNESS when visiting his place. The 2nd Group will also be given directions to the 2 sites and Cheesequake after their visit. Johan or Mike Machette will be afternoon guide for Ramanessin. For those wishing to collect ONLY, directions will also be given out at Cheesequake for the 2 sites. Derek will lead a group to Big Brook and I will lead a group to Ramanessin, however I will not be collecting myself, only showing the site. I will be driving back to Cheesequake to lead Group 2 to the Museum. Other experienced collectors there can offer to be a guide at Ramanessin Brook; it would be greatly appreciated. Please CARPOOL to Cheesequake, the sites and Museum AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. YES __ NO _?__ Proper safety gear is required on ALL trips. (Glasses, sturdy footwear, gloves) Attendees will be required to sign a Hold Harmless Agreement / Attendance Sheet before the trip begins. Other Trip Notes: SIGN-UPS for the Museum Groups will be first-come, first-serve by contacting Groundhog Dave. Johan and PESA members reserve 1st Group rights, the balance to made up by others.
