The Friends of Mineralogy NJ Chapter had an excellent October meeting and program on Tuesday, October 15th. Our guest presenter, John Sancafon, did a fantastic presentation on Worldwide Agates, complete with a slideshow, commentary and plenty of specimens to peruse. He discussed in great detail, the various localities that boast specific types of Agates, and where and how they are sold. He effectively combined the science of Agate formation, with the more familiar aspects of Agate collecting and did a thorough comparison of the many different types. Everything from Crazy Lace Agate to Fire Agates to Moss Agates, all forms of Agates were discussed, and specimens of many of those distinct types were brought in to observe. As has been the norm, Pizza and Pasta Factory did not disappoint in the quality of their pizzas, which we all enjoyed. The Friends of Mineralogy NJ Chapter had an excellent October meeting and program on Tuesday, October 15th.
