May Meeting: Collecting by the Ton

James will tell several stories about acquiring Franklin minerals in bulk -- collections, accumulations, and piles, and how sometimes the "silver pick" is the most useful tool, as long as you also have a good supply of elbow grease.  This will include a short PowerPoint presentation, and a few long stories.  Actually, most of my finds have been from the purchase of several different "hoards" of minerals = some folks know about the Navritil Hoard from upstate NY, I could describe the interesting things I "dug" there, and more recently I purchased 4,000 pounds of rock that had been accumulated by Ray Klingler before his unfortunate and untimely death.  Some surprises in there as well! Less Powerpoint, more story-telling and anecdotes (and some give-aways!!).
