Mineral Oddities are a mineral collection specialty, but what constitutes an oddity depends on the person holding the specimen. What is odd to one, might not be to another. It may just be curious!
My best reference to mineral oddities is William Sanborn's book published in 1976. He includes "unusual phenomena, processes, and specimens that occur in the world of mineralogy." I have examples of many in my collection.
A combination of photos, unusual specimens, and stories will inform my talk on Mineral Oddities and will, of course, include my favorites - concretions of several kinds.
